Ria the Cocker Spaniel

Our Story

How a small black Cocker Spaniel inspired something special.

It started, as many good things do, at the kitchen table.

A mother and daughter, a set of letter stamps, a piece of brass, and one very curious Cocker Spaniel named Ria watching from her bed in the corner.

That first tag was for Ria. Nothing fancy—just her name, stamped letter by letter, slightly uneven. But there was something about holding it, feeling the weight of the brass, seeing those imperfect impressions that made it feel real. Made it feel ours.

Friends saw it. They wanted one for their dogs. Then friends of friends. Before we knew it, what started as a Sunday afternoon hobby had become something more.

Still at the table

We're still at that same kitchen table, by the way. Still stamping each letter by hand. Still making every piece to order. Ria still supervises—though these days her supervision mostly involves napping.

Along the way, we added embroidery. Blankets with names stitched into them. Keepsakes that feel like they could be passed down. Everything made here, in the Norfolk, by the two of us (plus Ria, of course).

We're not a big company. We don't want to be. We like knowing that when you unwrap something from Fur & Thread, you're holding something we made with our own hands. Something that started as a piece of brass or a blank piece of fabric and ended up as something for your dog. Your family.

That's it, really. No grand mission statement. Just two people who love making things properly, and one very spoiled Cocker Spaniel who started it all.
